About the Friends
The Friends of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is a non-profit,
educational and charitable organization.
Membership is open to all persons interested in the improvement and
growth of library services in Las Cruces and Dona Ana County.
We began in 1976. Our membership is now over 200. The first project we
participated in was a new library building for Las Cruces.
Ground breaking on the 28,000 square foot building was November 18,
1978. An additional 8,763 square feet on the second floor was opened in
November 1991.
In June 1984 we received the FOLUSA (Friends of Libraries U.S.A.)
awarded as the outstanding small public library Friends organization.
The Friends contribute the to Library in many ways, including regular
book sales on behalf of the Library, sponsorship of the Library Authors
Series and Book Reviews, and other special projects.
