Policy on Public Use of the Internet

To fulfill its mission of providing public access to information off al types in a wide range of formats, Thomas Branigan Memorial Library provides unfiltered access to internet resources.  The Library does not condone the use of library equipment to access material that is obscene, child pornography or harmful to minors.  Parents and guardians, not the employees of Branigan Library, have the ultimate responsibility for monitoring their children's internet activity.  Some information found on the internet may be inaccurate, incomplete, dated or offensive to some individuals.  It is up to the individual, parent or guardian to decide what content is appropriate.   Users should be aware that the internet is not a secure medium and that third parties may be able to obtain information.

Regarding users' activities.  The library will not release information on the use of specific Internet resources by member of the public except as required by law or necessary for the proper operation of the Library.

Users shall not:

All patrons must comply with the Library Rules of Behavior and Computer Use Procedures. Violations will result in loss of access.  Unlawful activities will be dealt with in an appropriate manner.  Appeals to the Public Services Director must be made in writing.
