A. PURPOSE

To fulfill its mission of providing public access to information of all types in a wide range of formats, Thomas Branigan Memorial Library makes computers available to its patrons along with collections of print, non-print, and electronic reference resources, as Library funding permits. Computer resources provide access to information beyond that contained in this Library’s collections, e.g. Internet.

B. POLICY STATEMENT

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library does not monitor and has no control over information accessed through the Internet and cannot guarantee that information found is accurate, complete, or up-to-date.

The Library will not release information on the use of specific Internet resources by members of the public except as required by law or necessary for the proper operation of the Library.

The Library is not responsible for damage to a patron’s disk or computer or for any loss of data, damage or liability that may occur from use of the Library’s computers.

Responsibility for the welfare and behavior of children in the Library rests with the parent/legal guardian or assigned chaperone. The Library Staff does not provide care or supervision of children, except to the extent needed to uphold City Policy and the Library Rules of Behavior.

Before using Library computers, users must sign an Acceptable Use Agreement.

C. APPLICABILITY

This policy applies to all persons using library equipment.

E. RESPONSIBILITY

It is the responsibility of all persons using Library equipment to know and follow this policy.
