Consistent with our phased reopening plan and the State of New Mexico
Red to Green framework, Branigan Library will begin reopening to
 the public on April 5, 2021. We look forward to welcoming everyone #backtoBranigan! Check back often for updates, schedules and service announcements.

Limited Lobby Hours:  Monday - Saturday, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. The library welcomes you back inside the library to return items, check out items on hold, to conduct reference questions and browse the new books and a few curated collections. There is no seating available. The periodical room, study rooms and meeting rooms remain closed. Masks are required inside the building. Patrons wishing to use the Computer Lab must have their temperature checked before entering the Lab.

Grab and Go Hours: Monday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

  • Step 1: Use our online catalog, or call (575) 528-4005, to place library materials on hold.
  • Step 2: Wait for email notification stating that your items are ready for pick-up. 
  • Step 3: Schedule a pick- up time request online or call (575) 528-4000. Please allow 30 minutes for preparation of materials.

Grab and Go is located at the building entrance and is contactless and staff cannot accept returns. Return material in the Book Return located at the side of the library. Masks are required during the Grab and Go service.

Computer Lab Hours: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM - 3:45 PM. Call ahead (575) 528-4000, to see if there is a wait or if computers are available. Computer lab capacity has been further reduced to allow for greater social distancing. Masks are required inside the building. Patrons wishing to use the Computer Lab must have their temperature checked before entering the Lab.

Reference Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.  Call (575) 528-4005 for reference services such as library card sign-up, and digital resource troubleshooting.

The Munson and Sage Branches will remain closed.

All items being returned need to be placed in the outside book drop located on the side of the building. Fines and fees are still being waived. The Library is not currently accepting donations of books, videos or magazines.

The Library has many digital resources, such as e-books, e-audiobooks, streaming music and movies, digital magazines, databases and more, which patrons can visit from the comfort of their own home.

Library Cards

Do you need a library card to access our digital services from home? 

A happy little girl reading a book A FREE library card is available to Dona Ana County, New Mexico residents with a valid photo ID with a current address, or a valid photo ID and a current proof of address, such as a utility bill or lease.  New Mexico residents who live outside of Dona Ana county can receive a free library card with a valid photo ID, current proof of address, and a library card from where they live.  Children and teens 17 years and under must have a parent or guardian sign their application for a card. Parents and guardians must have a library account in good standing in order to sign their child up for a card. A $5 replacement fee is charged if the card is lost, stolen or damaged beyond use.
