Business Development
Business Development wants to see business growth, new jobs, and new investment in our community. We connect businesses to resources in our community to help them start, grow, and/or get through challenges. We also support businesses by helping them navigate through City processes. We will meet one on one with businesses, or we can send them information, whichever they prefer.
Our team researches, recommends, implements, and manages incentives such as the Local Economic Development Act, and Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas. We make recommendations for new policies or initiatives to help businesses.
Our team works closely with many partners including the New Mexico Economic Development Department, Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance, Film Las Cruces, the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, the Green Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and many others.
Additionally, Business Development includes downtown revitalization efforts. Downtown Las Cruces is the heart of the City, and efforts are focused on promoting, developing, and growing business, arts, cultural, and entertainment opportunities within its boundaries. The historic Rio Grande Theatre is housed within Destination Downtown and is the premier entertainment venue presenting theatrical performances, live music, and films among other offerings.

Land & Real Estate Services
Based upon our mission to serve in the best interest of Las Cruces citizens, the Land and Real Estate Services program manages real estate transactions for the City, including the acquisition of real estate assets and interests in support of City projects, the selling of City-owned real estate assets and interests in support of Economic Development initiatives, or those that no longer serve a public purpose. These services include, but are not limited to:
• Acquiring property, rights of way, and easements for utilities, roadway facilities, and public use.
• The selling of City real estate assets.
• Managing City related leases, with the City as landlord and tenant.
• Determining ownership status and history for City-owned properties and rights of way.
