Welcome to ALICE – Artists + Libraries Innovative Collaborative Entrepreneurship! This is a collaborative program ran by Las Cruces Public Libraries, Las Cruces Public Art, and the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department. Our mission is to provide a vibrant platform for artists and creatives, offering unique opportunities to delve into new skills, forge meaningful connections with fellow artists and creative entrepreneurs, all within the heart of Las Cruces. At the core of ALICE's offerings is a makerspace housed in the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library; a groundbreaking Library of Things for borrowing, engaging arts and crafts classes, and transformative Art Smarter, Not Harder professional development workshops tailored for individuals at every skill level. Join us on a journey of creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship at ALICE!

Ask ALICE: Art Smarter, Not Harder Workshop Series

Programming is offered at no charge! All workshops are focused on creative professional development and are open to anyone. Registration is highly encouraged.

Workshop 1: "What I Know Now"

Panel discussion with three local distinguished artists who will discuss how thinking out of the box lead to successful careers as artists.

Workshop 2: Financial Coaching for Artists with Tamara Bates, Founder of "the dots between" Fellowship

Part 1 - Tamara Bates discusses financial literacy basics including information about budgeting, credit, debt, and savings.

Part 2 - Tamara Bates discusses managing uneven income and multiple revenue streams, managing taxes, debt, and savings when you're uncertain about how much income you will have.

One on One consultations with Tamara will be offered first come first serve and will be conducted via Zoom at a later date.

Workshop 3: E-Commerce & Intellectual Property Rights

Guest artist will give tips on sustaining an art/creative online business. Guest lawyer discusses intellectual property and artist rights.

Workshop 4: Making It Public

Two day workshop with focus on public art. Guest presentations from local artists and public art professionals.

Learn what is essential to start your business successfully, such as resources, marketing analysis, and business plan basics. Training Topics: Business Financing, Business Plan, Business Start-up/ Preplanning, Managing a Business, Marketing/Sales.
