[ARCHIVED] CORRECTED: "Toss No Mas" Citywide Cleanup and Call for Volunteers

Toss No Mas 2

Individual volunteers, groups, and civic organizations are invited to register for this year’s “Toss No Mas” cleanup event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful, the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department, and New Mexico Clean and Beautiful programs will host the annual “Toss No Mas” Cleanup, a great opportunity to beautify Las Cruces. The “Toss No Mas” campaign was created in the 1990’s by Cooney-Watson Productions.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful will have a centralized location, Young Park, 1905 Nevada Ave., for information, identified locations, and supplies the morning of the event. Hundreds of volunteers participate each year to collect litter at parks, schools, streets, and business properties during the “Toss No Mas” Cleanup campaign.

In past years, more than 1,000 volunteers from local groups and organizations have collected more than 16 tons of litter during the annual event. The “Toss No Mas” Cleanup campaign is organized locally by KLCB and is a statewide initiative in partnership with New Mexico True.

Volunteers can pick up supplies from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. the week of Monday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 7 in the south parking lot of Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.

As part of the event, solid waste containers will be available for residents from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 8 for trash disposal.

Toss No Mas Cleanup roll-off locations are:

  • The corner of Thurmond Road and Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.
  • Apodaca Park, 801 E. Madrid Ave.
  • Young Park, 1905 E. Nevada Ave.
  • Tony Gomez Park, 2250 S. Espina St.

All volunteers are encouraged to register online at https://www.las-cruces.org/formcenter/parks-rec-forms-14/toss-no-mas-registration-94, or call 575/528-4506, or email KLCB@las-cruces.org for information to sign up.

Information about the campaign containing facts about how litter affects our communities, advice on how to tie/tarp loads on vehicles, and ways for people to get involved and volunteer in their neighborhoods can be found at www.tossnomasnm.com.
