Groundbreaking ceremonies for a new RoadRUNNER Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at 2340 Westway Ave.
Invited guests to the groundbreaking ceremony include Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima, members of the Las Cruces City Council, representatives from the Federal Transit Administration Region 6, the New Mexico Department of Transportation Transit and Rail Division, and members of New Mexico’s congressional delegation.
The first phase of construction of this facility is $21,949,633 of which almost 80 percent is federally funded. In August 2022, RoadRUNNER Transit was awarded $2,170,214 from the FTA, requiring a $542,554 local match to construct additional phases of the new Operations and Maintenance Facility that will be built on Westway Avenue.
Additional fiscal year 2022 FTA funds, bond funding, and local match will be committed in early 2023 for build out of additional phases of the facility and associated project management, design, and workforce development projects. The facility is planned to be completed in June of 2024. The new facility will replace RoadRUNNER Transit’s aging facility on Hadley Avenue.
The groundbreaking ceremonies will be rebroadcast on CLCTV, Comcast Cable channels 20 and 928 and YouTube channel, YouTube.com/clctv20.
