[ARCHIVED] Branigan Library Offers Free Computer Literacy Classes in April

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library offers free computer literacy classes in April. Each session is an independent class. Registration is not required, however, only the first nine attendees will be guaranteed a computer. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops if space permits.

Basic Computer Skills – Tuesday, April 2, 2- 4 p.m.

A class for the absolute beginner. Students will learn the parts of the computer, mouse skills, the Windows environment including essential Windows-based programs.

 

Windows 10 – Tuesday, April 9, 2-4 p.m.

This class will teach students how to navigate the most recent Windows operating system, including the new Start Menu, Cortana and how to customize the desktop. Basic computer skills are required.


Connect to Your Library Resources – Tuesday, April 16, 2-4 p.m.

Learn how to connect your tablet or smart phone to the library’s resources using your library card. Learn how to download e-books, e-audio books, music and magazines for free. Students should bring their fully charged personal mobile device, all passwords, and your library card to class.


Gmail – Thursday, April 18, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Learn how to obtain a Google email account. Students will also learn the basics of sending, receiving, and replying to a message, as well as how to send and open attachments and manage their new Gmail account. Basic computer skills are required.

 

Presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint – Wednesday, April 24, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Students will learn the basics of creating a PowerPoint Presentation and how to add pizzazz with sound effects, transition effects, and much, much more. Basic computer skills are required.


Microsoft Word for Beginners – Tuesday, April 30, 2-4 p.m.

A class for those who are beginning to use Microsoft Word. Students will learn how to create and format basic documents. Basic computer skills are required.

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday. The library is located at 200 E. Picacho Avenue.


Save gas and avoid traffic! Roadrunner Transit can get you to the library. Branigan Library is located on Route #1, stop #2, City Hall/Library.
