The Las Cruces Sister Cities Foundation and Las Cruces-Nienburg Sister Cities Affiliation Committee, in partnership with the City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department, will conduct a public meeting to begin plans for a delegation from Las Cruces to visit Nienburg, Lower Saxony, Germany in 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sister Cities partnership between the two cities.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at the Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St. Details of the visit and information about how Las Cruces residents can become involved with the Las Cruces Sister Cities Foundation and the delegation will be discussed.
Those who attend the meeting also will learn about the Las Cruces Sister Cities Foundation and meet members who have visited the two sister cities. Las Cruces has Sister City affiliations with, Nienburg, Germany and Lerdo, Mexico.
The Sister Cities partnerships between Las Cruces, Nienburg, and Lerdo promote diverse and enriching exchanges of mutual cooperation in the areas of communal life such as culture, education, health, sport science, technology and economic development.
In 2018, a delegation from Nienburg, Germany came to Las Cruces to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Sister Cities partnership between the two cities.
