Educational event will showcase the latest in electric technology

The City of Las Cruces, in partnership with the Las Cruces Convention Center, announces the first annual PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training on Jan. 20, 2023, and Jan. 21, 2023.

As the first of its kind in New Mexico, the PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training is set to transform public understanding of electric technologies by showcasing the latest advancements and providing professional training and residential workshops for utilizing efficient, affordable technologies in homes and businesses.

“PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training is a special type of home show for residents and professionals in the construction industry to get a crash course in the new efficient clean energy technologies, cost savings opportunities, and step-by-step guidance all in one place,” said Lisa LaRocque, City of Las Cruces Sustainability Officer.

Featuring more than 40 exhibitors, the expo and training event will improve the lives of participants by helping them reduce utility bills, capitalize on incentives and rebates, and incorporate electric technology for more efficient living and overall better health. Industry-leading educators will help attendees make decisions that save money, and benefit their family, community, and generations beyond. Children's activities, door prizes and giveaways, will make the PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training event one the whole family can enjoy.

In-depth training courses and workshops will be offered both days for those interested in learning more. On Jan. 20, the training sessions will cater to professionals within the construction industry covering the latest policies, advancements, and incentives for transitioning buildings to all-electric technology. The residential workshops on Jan. 21 are designed to help homeowners learn about and take advantage of the benefits and long-term cost savings of efficient electric technology and appliances.

Developers, builders, architects, and inspectors looking to modernize their practices and safeguard the health of our planet can register in advance for industry training online at https://meetinlascruces.com/powerup-expo-training/. All professionals are eligible for CEU credit and are invited to join the Las Cruces Electrification Initiative. To be launched following the expo, the initiative will connect builders, homeowners, and construction specialists to share expertise on rebates, planning, all-electric builds, federal funding, and local financing.
