Robert del Plain has been promoted to Information Technology Director for the City of Las Cruces. He begins his new duties in early January.
Rob del Plain joined the City in December 2017 and has served as Infrastructure Services Manager since then. With more than 25 years of IT experience Mr. del Plain has worked at public and private organizations, and higher education institutions.
Through the years, Mr. del Plain has successfully implemented billing systems, time and attendance systems, email services, and cloud services. In 2018, he implemented new hardware infrastructure to improve uptime performance for the City’s IT system, increasing uptime from a monthly average of 95 percent to greater than 99 percent.
In 2020, del Plain directed the implementation of key technologies to quickly provide City staff the ability to work from home during the COVID global pandemic. In 2021, he worked to improve the City’s IT system security, implementing Multi-Factor Authentication.
Mr. del Plain graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems.
