The City of Las Cruces will host two public information sessions to answer questions and collect community input regarding the designations of new Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (MRA).
Areas for consideration are within the city’s infill area or the central area of the city. The boundaries of the Infill area are Interstate Highway 25, the northern boundary of the University Avenue Corridor Overlay Zone, Valley Drive (New Mexico State Highways 188 and 185), Hoagland Road, Alameda Boulevard, Three Crosses Avenue, and north Main Street (U.S. Highway 70).
The designation would allow Las Cruces to create an MRA plan that includes extensive community engagement to plan for further economic development and housing improvements. MRA plans facilitate public-private partnerships to assist in economic development, and improvements to infrastructure and housing. Downtown Las Cruces has already been designated as an MRA, and the designation has helped the community’s efforts to revitalize downtown over the last several years.
Both sessions will be hosted via Zoom and in-person at Cruces Creatives, 205 E. Lohman Ave. on Jan. 5, 2023.
