[ARCHIVED] MEDIA ADVISORY Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training Event

The media is invited and encouraged to attend a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training, beginning at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

The two-day event is aimed at transforming the public’s understanding of new electric technologies for vehicles, buildings, and industry.  It will showcase the latest advancements in beneficial electrification through exhibits, presentations, and demonstrations, as well as through professional training workshops focused on the utilization of efficient, affordable all-electric technologies in homes and businesses.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be conducted by the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and the Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce, and will include Senator Martin Heinrich, New Mexico Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard, and Las Cruces Mayor Pro Tem Kasandra Gandara. Senator Heinrich and other Electrification Champions will arrive at the Convention Center in an all-electric bus at 12:45 pm on Friday and will participate in the Ribbon Cutting at 1 pm just inside the Convention Center main entrance. Sen. Heinrich will be available to the media following the ceremony.

The ceremony will be livestreamed by the City’s Communications Office at YouTube.com/clctv20. In the event there are technical difficulties with internet service at the Convention Center, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be available later at YouTube.com/clctv20.

PowerUP Las Cruces Expo and Training will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The event will showcase the availability and affordability of new, advanced, technologies to convert a home or business into an all-electric environment.

The educational event, sponsored in partnership by the City of Las Cruces and Las Cruces Convention Center, is free to the public and will showcase the many ways electricity can have a positive change on one’s life while showcasing local businesses that can facilitate converting living and working spaces to an all-electric and efficient environment. Information to take advantage of discounts, rebates, and incentives to go all-electric will be available.
