[ARCHIVED] 2023 Fall Youth Sportsmanship Basketball Individual Participant Registration

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department offers the following individual registrations for the upcoming Spring Youth Sportsmanship Basketball League.
 
 There will be four age divisions for all genders between the ages of 4 and 11, and one division each for middle school boys and girls (12-under to 14-under). Proof of age, or a *Parks & Recreation Activity ID Card is required for all divisions and middle school participants will need to provide grade verification as well.
 
 Registration fee is $45 per individual (with a jersey) or $35 for returning players (no jersey). League play begins the week of March 20, 2023.
 
 Space is limited in all divisions, and registration is first come, first served.
 
*Parks & Recreation Activity ID Card: To obtain a card, parent or guardian and child, must appear in person at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave., to fill out a permission form, provide proof of age (a birth certificate), and have the child’s photo taken. Activity ID Cards can be obtained from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. ID cards will not be issued on registration dates.
   

Individual Online Registration:
 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023

To register online, a current *Parks & Recreation Activity ID card is required to be on file by Monday, February 6.

  

Individual (In-Person) Registration:
 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023
 Meerscheidt Recreation Center
 1600 E. Hadley Ave.
 A current *Parks &Recreation Activity ID card or birth certificate is required
at time of registration.
Grade verification for middle school participants will also be required.

  

Age Divisions are as follows:
 All genders – 6-under, 8-under, 10-under, 11-under, 12-under to 14-under Boys and Girls (Middle School ONLY)


Team Placement

  • Formation of teams is under the discretion of Meerscheidt Recreation Center staff.
  • Participants will be required to play in their respective age division and will not be allowed to “play up” a division.
  • Requesting placement onto specific teams will not be allowed. Siblings in the same household may be placed on the same team ONLY if they qualify for the same age division and sibling notification is recorded by Meerscheidt Recreation Center staff during registration.
  • Switching teams will not be allowed once teams have been formed and assigned to coaches.
