[ARCHIVED] Spring Seed Collection at Branigan Library

Box with different seed packets

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., is pleased to announce the availability of our spring collection of seeds at the Tierra Sagrada pop-up seed library.

Established in the Fall of 2020, the Tierra Sagrada Seed Library was created to encourage Las Crucens to learn more about local food systems and regionally adapted community seed saving projects.

The spring collection refresh began the week of Feb. 6, 2023 and will feature seeds ideal for the spring growing season. Seeds will be available while supplies last.

Each library patron is allowed to check out 10 packets of seeds per season on their library card. There is no return date, but patrons are encouraged to learn how to save seeds and eventually make a seed donation back to the seed library.

The Seed Library is in the Branigan Library at the Reference Desk. Visit www.lascruces.gov/library and click on “Seed Library” for information and a listing of available spring seeds.

Community members who are interested in donating seed are asked to fill out a donation form to provide information on seed provenance and cultural history. Help us build a regionally adapted community seed saving project!

This document can be made available in alternate formats by calling 575/528-4102 or 575/528-4008 (TTY). Anyone who requires an accommodation for a disability to participate in this event should call the library at least 48 hours in advance at 575/528-4102 or 575/528-4008 (TTY).

For information, contact Brita Sauer, Library Manager, at 575/528-4028, or by email at bsauer@lascruces.gov.
