The New Mexico Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration will host two public meetings to discuss the Interstate 25 Safety and Capacity Study.
The study area includes I-25 from the Lohman Interchange, Milepost 2.8, to the Doña Ana Interchange, Milepost 10.5, and on New Mexico Highway 320 (Thorpe Road) from Barela Drive (Milepost 1.25) to I-25 (Milepost 2.0). The purpose of the study is to address safety and capacity needs, including deficiencies with pavement, geometry, access control, drainage management, and Americans with Disability Act facilities.
The purpose of the public meetings is to review the study, present information on existing conditions, and discuss the alternatives considered and initial recommendations.
The first meeting will be conducted as a virtual meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, and will primarily focus on I-25 from the Lohman to Doña Ana interchanges. The meeting will involve a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
The second meeting will be a combined virtual and in-person public meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at Doña Ana Elementary School, 5551 Cam De Flores, Las Cruces, NM 88007. The second meeting will focus on the New Mexico Highway 320 (Thorpe Road) study area between Barela Drive and I-25. The meeting also will involve a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
