Las Cruces fire investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect or suspects responsible for setting fire overnight in six separate trash receptacles.
The trash receptacle fires occurred overnight between about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, and 4 a.m. Wednesday. The six trash receptacle fires were located at:
- 300 block of north Main Street.
- West Hadley Avenue near north Alameda Boulevard.
- Van Patten Avenue near Miranda Street.
- West Court Avenue near north Water Street.
- Two fires at Lions Park.
One of the fires at Lions Park was in an outdoor trash receptacle. The other fire at Lions Park was in a trash receptacle that’s located inside a public restroom.
All fires were quickly extinguished. There were no reported injuries and minimal damage to property.
Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect or suspects in any of these fires is asked to call Fire Investigator Michael Danner at (575) 528-4049. Home or business owners with video footage of suspicious activity near any of these fire locations are also encouraged to call the fire investigator.
