The Las Cruces City Council will meet for a work session at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
The third semi-annual audit report of the Las Cruces Police Department will be presented to City Council by the OIR Group at Monday’s work session. The presentation will include the OIR Group’s review of 16 LCPD Internal Affairs Division cases that were closed between June 1, 2022, and Nov. 30, 2022.
The OIR Group, a Playas Del Rey, Calif. company, has been working in the field of independent oversight of law enforcement agencies for two decades. OIR Group specializes in evaluating and seeking to strengthen law enforcement policies, practices, and accountability measures.
The OIR Group has been contracted by the City since May 1, 2021, to independently audit LCPD.
Additionally, at Monday’s work session, LCPD will update City Council on crime statistics during 2022 and year-to-date results. Included in the presentation will be personnel updates, crime strategies, training, community engagement projects, and LCPD initiatives.

Immediately following the work session, a brief Agenda Setting Meeting will be conducted in Council Chambers to determine the agenda for the March 6, 2023, City Council meeting.
