The Las Cruces Fire Department responded to a semitrailer fire at mile marker 134 on Interstate 10 about 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Firefighters discovered heavy fire coming from the trailer. The truck’s cargo was bulk food.
Firefighters quickly confined the fire to the trailer, keeping it from causing damage to the tractor portion of the commercial vehicle. The fire caused extensive damage to the trailer and the cargo inside it.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
