[ARCHIVED] City Council to Meet for Work Session on March 13, 2023

The Las Cruces City Council will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, for a Work Session in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.

City Council will be updated on the development of the proposed Fiscal Year 2024 budget for the four Joint Power Agreement (JPA) entities for which the City is fiscal agent, Fire Department, and Housing and Neighborhood Services. The four JPAs include Metro Narcotics, Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority, South Central Solid Waste Authority, and Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.

Also, during Monday’s work session, Economic Development Department staff will present an update of Las Cruces’ economic outlook. The presentation will focus on labor force trends, industry trends, and general business trends of the local economy.

Additionally, at Monday’s work session, representatives of Las Cruces Sister Cities will present an update to City Council on a new project called the Urban X-Change Network. The Urban X-Change Network offers nine German Adult Education Centers and their counterparts in Great Britain, Ukraine, and the U.S. the opportunity to carry out cross-border cultural and educational activities. The presentation will provide an overview of the Nienburg/Las Cruces Urban X-Change Project.

Monday’s work session will be televised live on CLCTV, Comcast Cable channel 20, and in high definition on Comcast Cable channel 927. The work session also will be streamed live at clctv.com and at YouTube.com/clctv20.

Prior to Monday’s work session, City Council will meet at 11 a.m. Monday at City Hall for a Closed Meeting. The Council will discuss pending litigation during the Closed Meeting.

Immediately following Monday’s Council work session, a brief Agenda Setting Meeting will be conducted in Council Chambers at City Hall to determine the agenda for City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023.
