[ARCHIVED] “National Fossil Day™” at the Museum of Nature & Science

Dig deep into Earth’s history on “National Fossil Day™,” from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 12, at the Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main Street. Unearth fossil facts with hands-on activities and view real fossils from Las Cruces and beyond. Entry to the museum and program are free, and no registration is required.

Practice paleontology with hands-on activities for all ages presented by the museum and the Bureau of Land Management - Las Cruces Office. Learn about New Mexico’s ancient past from the Paleozoic pelycosaurs to Cretaceous Tyrannosaurus rex. 

National Fossil Day™ is an annual celebration of the educational and scientific value of paleontology hosted by the National Park Service and American Geosciences Institute. 

The Museum of Nature & Science is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum is accessible from RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 36. For additional information, visit the website at: http://las-cruces.org/museums or call 575/522-3120.
