[ARCHIVED] Technical Rescue Team Helps Stabilize Home after Crash

Damaged House on Wilson Ave

The Las Cruces Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team helped stabilize a home after a car crashed into it Friday evening.

About 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 12, Las Cruces firefighters were called to the 1300 block of Wilson Avenue after a Ford Mustang crashed into the front of the home. The occupants of the home and driver of the car escaped physical injuries.

The crash caused significant damage and instability to the front, exterior wall of the home. The Technical Rescue Team was called and built a temporary wall to stabilize the damaged area and help support the home’s roof.

Damage estimates were not immediately available.

Police arrested the 21-year-old driver of the car. He is charged with aggravated driving while under the influence and due care-collision. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and released on his own recognizance on May 13.
