In observance of Memorial Day, most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Monday, May 29, 2023. However, all emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.
City offices and facilities closed on Memorial Day include:
- A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven.
- City Hall.
- East Mesa Recreation Center.
- Foothills Landfill. The landfill will resume usual hours of operation Tuesday, May 30.
- Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center.
- Juvenile Citation Program.
- Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and its branch libraries.
- Meerscheidt Recreation Center.
- Frenger Pool remains closed.
- All museums.
- Rio Grande Theatre.
- All RoadRUNNER Transit operations and facilities.
- All Senior Programs facilities and services.
- South Central Solid Waste Authority offices.
- Visit Las Cruces.
Open, with hours, includes:
- Solid waste collection will occur for residential and commercial customers who are scheduled for that service on Monday, May 29.
- The South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station, 2865 W. Amador Ave., will be open from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
- City swimming pools will be open Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a free swim day at the City’s outdoor pools, Laabs Pool, 750 W. Picacho Ave., and the East Mesa Bataan Memorial Pool, 6141 Reynolds Drive. Those pools will have two swimming sessions. Session I will be from noon to 3 p.m. and Session II will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- The Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., will have an Aquatic Fitness Session from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with open swim session from noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- The upstairs Fitness & Weight Room at the Regional Aquatics Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Las Cruces Natatorium, 1405 E. Hadley Ave., will have lap swimming from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
