Sierra Middle School, 1700 Spruce Ave., will experience a water outage from 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, to approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
DuCross Construction, under contract with the City of Las Cruces, will be tying-in the new Walnut Street water line at the intersection of Spruce Avenue and Walnut Street as part of the Bike/Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements Project.
This work is being done on the border of City Council Districts 1 and 3.
The outage area is Walnut Street from Capitan Avenue to Spruce Avenue. It is not anticipated that adjacent areas will be affected.
However, if water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in their house for five minutes.
If the discoloration remains, call the City at 575/526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is 575/541-2182.
