[ARCHIVED] Las Cruces Museums Celebrate the History of Juneteenth with Guest Speaker Roy Collins, III

Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St., will host a presentation at noon Thursday, June 15, 2023, on the history of Juneteenth by Roy Collins III, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of New Mexico State University.
 
 Part of the Center’s “Pull Up a Chair” series, this will be the kickoff event for the Juneteenth Jazz Festival, running through Monday, June 19. Join us in-person to learn about the impact of the Juneteenth holiday and how it is a celebration of not only one day, but an important era in history.
 
 Roy Collins is a native of Galveston, Texas, where Juneteenth began. He has served as an in-house attorney at the University of Hartford, Idaho State University, Texas Southern University, and Chrysler Corporation.
 
 Collins also served The Texas A&M University System, where he was Assistant Director for Intellectual Property for the System’s Texas Engineering Experiment Station. In 2019, he joined NMSU as its General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer.
 
 Collins is a published author and frequent speaker on the topics of intellectual property, technology transfer, electronic commerce, communications law, free speech, negotiation, contracts, and diversity.
