The
Las Cruces Police Department will host its first "Cars, Coffee and Cops" event this weekend to
meet residents who have a passion for custom and classic vehicles.
The
free event will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at Young Park,
850 S. Walnut St. Owners who want to show their custom or classic vehicles are
encouraged to arrive early for the best parking spots. Dunkin’ Donuts will
provide free coffee and dougnuts.
LCPD
will offer free Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching to owners who want to have their vehicles protected.
Etching the VIN on all windows is a countermeasure to motor vehicle theft as it
reduces the value of vehicles stolen and sold for parts. VIN etching begins at 9
a.m. Saturday and is free to anyone – car show participants and attendees – who
brings a vehicle to the event.
Residents
are encouraged to stop by, meet with LCPD officers, and discuss any safety or
law enforcement concerns they may have.
