The Las Cruces Police Academy and LCPD Commendation Board would like to recognize Detective Israel Rodriguez for spearheading the newly created college internship program for the department this year. Detective Rodriguez took it upon himself to make sure the program came to fruition by researching other programs, working with HR regarding training and documentation and seeing to the successful implementation of the program. Detective Rodriguez went above and beyond to coordinate with staff to schedule interns for appropriate trainings. He found staff willing to be shadowed and remained in constant contact with all parties involved throughout the course of several weeks. His effort and dedication speaks volumes to his character and this program is one of the many ways in which Detective Rodriguez has contributed to the betterment of the department.
