[ARCHIVED] Celebrate Halloween at Spooky Downtown

Spooky Downtown

The City of Las Cruces and Las Cruces Downtown Partnership (DLCP) invite the community to celebrate Halloween early at Spooky Downtown, a whole day of Halloween fun for ghouls of all ages.

The event will be Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Downtown Las Cruces, and will feature vendors, food trucks, dance performances, live music, and a laser show. RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-a-Ride paratransit service will offer free rides from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to noon enjoy a "Haunted Museum" adventure at the Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St. Make glow-in-the-dark slime and assemble a skeleton; design a jack-o'-lantern out of clay; decorate gourds to ward off evil spirits with the Branigan Cultural Center; and learn about nocturnal animals in the Nature Center. The event is free to all. Costumes are welcome!

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. settle in at Branigan Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., for a "Family-Friendly Halloween Flick." The event is also free to the public. For information on this children's holiday-themed movie, contact the library's Media Desk at 575/528-4014 or email library.media@las-cruces.org.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Main Street will once again be home to the walking dead as the DLCP hosts the "Zombie Walk." The event features live music by The Beaux Peep Show, emcees provided by Bravo Mic DJ's, dance performances by local high schools/dance troupes, food trucks, vendors, and a laser show. Registration begins at 5 p.m. The entry fee for the Zombie Walk is $5 a zombie or $20 for four or more zombies. The Zombie Parade begins at 7 p.m. down Main Street. Trophies for best costumes in the categories of Best Adult, Best Youth, and Best Group will be announced immediately after. For information, visit downtownlascruces.org/zombie-walk.
