[ARCHIVED] Flags Fly at Half-Staff in Memory of U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings

Flags outside of City of Las Cruces facilities are flying at half-staff in honor of U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2019.

Cummings, 68, a Baltimore, Maryland Democrat, died Thursday of longstanding health problems. A Presidential Proclamation was issued Thursday as a mark of respect for the congressman. Cummings served in the U.S. House of Representatives from April 16, 1996 until Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019. At the time of his death, Cummings was chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

Flags will fly at half-staff through sunset Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.
