A woman suspected of stabbing her husband during a domestic dispute was arrested and charged early Friday morning.

Michelle F. Scott, 41, of the 900 block of Avenida de Mesilla, is charged with one count of aggravated battery against a household member. The charge is a third-degree felony.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to the report of a stabbing at 901 Avenida de Mesilla. Officers arrived to find Scott’s husband with multiple, superficial lacerations to his torso, back and neck. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators learned Scott and her husband began arguing sometime during the night and, at some point, it escalated and became physical. Scott is accused of head-butting her husband before arming herself with a blunt-tip knife and attacking him. When Scott exited the room, her husband locked the door and called 911.

Scott also called 911, said she was armed with a knife and indicated she was not sure if she stabbed her husband.

Police arrived shortly thereafter and took Scott into custody without further incident. She was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and is initially being held without bond.
