Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate Wednesday evening’s shooting on Myrtle Avenue that resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman.
About 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to what was initially described as an explosion inside a home on the 1300 block of Myrtle Avenue. Upon entering the home, police found a 45-year-old woman who was struck by gunfire. The woman succumbed to her injuries on scene.
The identity of the victim cannot be released until after police notify next of kin.
Police believe multiple rounds were fired into the home. A second woman inside the home escaped injury.
The shooting is still under investigation. Las Cruces police are asking for the public’s help identifying the person or persons responsible for this shooting.
Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is now offering a $2,000 reward for information that helps identify those responsible. Anyone with information relevant to this case is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Those who provide tips through Crime Stoppers do not have to leave their own name and will remain completely anonymous.
