[ARCHIVED] American City & County Magazine Ranks Las Cruces as Sixth Best-Run U.S. City

Yet another U.S. magazine has rated the City of Las Cruces as one of the nation’s best run cities.

American City & County Magazine has ranked Las Cruces the sixth best-run U.S. city. The magazine’s ranking of the top 10 cities is based on information gathered by Wallethub.com, who in July 2019 also ranked Las Cruces as the sixth best run city. Wallethub.com has rated Las Cruces as one of the best run U.S. cities in each of the past three years.

“Pay attention to No. 6,” Mayor Ken Miyagishima said. “Once again, this reaffirms the stellar leadership from City administrators and the dedication and hard work from City staff to make Las Cruces one of the best run cities in the U.S.”

“It’s tough to run a city,” said a portion of American City & County’s magazine article, which has been posted on its website. “Leaders must strike a balance between running all departments optimally with a limited budget while keeping residents happy. The bigger cities get, the more complex this tends to become, though.”

American City & County’s list of top 10 best-run cities can be found at https://www.americancityandcounty.com/2019/07/15/the-10-best-run-cities-in-the-u-s/.

In early July, Wallethub.com, a financial news and information site, used 37 performance indicators in six categories – Financial Stability, Education, Health, Safety, Economy, and Infrastructure and Pollution – to determine the operating efficiency of 150 of the largest U.S. cities.

Las Cruces received its best ratings in three of the six categories: 46th out of 150 in Education, 49th in Health, and 50th in Financial Stability.
