The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will offer individual registration for the upcoming 2020 Spring Youth Sportsmanship Basketball League. The league is offered to youth from 4 to 14 years of age. League play will begin the week of March 30, 2020, at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave. Please refer to the age chart for division placement. Space is limited and registration is first-come, first-served.

Individual Online Registration: Will be available on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 at www.las-cruces.org/178/Parks-Recreation. Participants must have a current *Parks & Recreation Activity ID card to register online. Cost is $45 per individual, with a jersey, or $35 for returning players, with no jersey.

Individual (In-person) Registration: Will be available from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Meerscheidt Recreation Center. Cost is $45 per individual, with jersey, or $35 for returning players, with no jersey, and is due at registration. Participants will be required to obtain or have a current *Parks & Recreation Activity ID card to register individuals.

*Parks & Recreation Activity ID Card: To obtain a card, a parent or guardian and child, must appear in person at Meerscheidt Recreation Center to fill out the permission form, provide proof of age, with a birth certificate, and have the child’s photo taken. Activity ID Cards can be obtained between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Cards will not be issued on registration dates.

2019/20 Youth Sport Age Divisions – Youth Sportsmanship Basketball

Beginning in January 2020, the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will offer youth sports based on participants age instead of their school grade. Age requirements will correspond with the 2019-2020 academic school year (what age they are by September 1, 2019). The new age divisions will allow young athletes the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of youth sports with athletes of similar ages. Age divisions for the 2020 Youth Sportsmanship Basketball League are as follows:

All participants will be required to play in their respective age division (players will not be allowed to “play up” a division)
