The Museum of Nature & Science presents “STEAMpunk – Marie Golda Ross,” at 11:30 a.m. on
Saturday, April 27. The program is free and open to the public. The content and
activities are intended for ages 7-12.
Marie Golda
Ross (1908-2008) was a senior engineer at Lockheed. She pioneered research and
development in astrophysics, such as rocket ballistics for space travel. Ms.
Ross is also well known as the first Native American engineer and the first
female engineer at Lockheed. Participants will design a prototype space craft
from common materials inspired by her work.
“STEAMpunk” is offered monthly, highlighting the work of an historic scientist through
hands on exploration.
The Museum of
Nature & Science is located at 411 N. Main Street
and is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9
