[ARCHIVED] NR: Registration Begins March 16 for 2020 Youth Cheer Program – Session 2

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will offer registration for the upcoming 2020 Youth Cheer Program (Session 2) on March 16, 2020 at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.

The program will be available to girls and boys ages 5 to 10 with instruction beginning the week of March 30, 2020. This opportunity will be one of five sessions offered throughout the year.

The program will be FUNdamental and recreational, focusing on confidence building, self-esteem, social skills, peer relationships, jumps, stunts, cheers and will have an end-of-the-program performance for parents and family. 

In person and online registration will begin from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Meerscheidt Recreation Center or at The cost to participate in the program is $45 per individual and is due at registration. The fee will include a cheer jersey and poms. The registration fee for returning participants is $35 (no jersey and poms). Participants will be required to have a current Parks & Recreation Activity ID card to register online.

To obtain an activity card, parents or guardians, with the child, must appear in person at Meerscheidt Recreation Center to fill out the permission form, provide proof of age – a birth certificate, and must have the child’s photo taken. Activity ID cards can be obtained between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Children must be a minimum of 5 years old by Jan. 1, 2020 to participate. Space is limited and registration is first come, first served.
