[ARCHIVED] LCPD Accepting Applications for 50th Academy

The Las Cruces Police Department is accepting applications for its 50th training academy that’s set to begin in late October.

Applications for LCPD’s training academy must be received no later than April 21, 2020. The academy is tentatively set to begin October 26.

The starting salary for cadets, those who are accepted into the academy, is $15.50 per hour. Upon graduation from the 22-week academy, officer trainees receive $17.83 per hour. Officer trainees who successfully complete their one-year probationary status earn a salary of $22.38 per hour.

LCPD also offers a $3,000 recruitment and retention bonus paid with a 36-month commitment.

Applicants are required to be U.S. citizens, at least 19 years old when the academy begins, have at least a high school diploma and no felony convictions. Prospective candidates can learn more about the academy by visiting www.CLCPD.com and clicking the “Recruitment” tab. A link to the Police Cadet application is highlighted.
