The Las Cruces Police Department is accepting applications for its 50th training academy that will begin in late October.
Applications for LCPD’s training academy must be received no later than April 21, 2020. The academy is tentatively set to begin October 26.
The starting salary for cadets who are accepted into the academy is $15.50 per hour. Upon graduation from the 22-week academy, officer trainees will earn $17.83 per hour. Officer trainees who successfully complete their one-year probationary status will earn a salary of $22.38 per hour.
LCPD also offers a $3,000 recruitment and retention bonus paid with a 36-month commitment.
Applicants are required to be U.S. citizens, at least 19 years old when the academy begins, have at least a high school diploma, and no felony convictions.
