Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., will offer free computer literacy in May. Each session is an independent class. Registration is not required, however, only the first nine attendees will be guaranteed a computer. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops if space permits.
Classes to be offered include:
Basic Computer Skills – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019. A class for the absolute beginner. Students will learn the parts of the computer, mouse skills, the Windows environment including how to navigate Windows-based programs.
File Management Skills – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2019. This class is a basic class where students will learn how to manage files by uploading files from removable drives and moving files into folders.
Windows 10 Basics – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2019. The class will teach students how to navigate the most recent Windows operating system, including the new Start Menu, Cortana and how to customize the desktop. Basic computer skills are required.
Internet for Beginners – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday May 22, 2019. A class for those who want to learn how to go online and move around the internet with ease. Students will learn how to access websites, how to navigate, web addresses, basic searching, and web safety.
Gmail Basics – 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, May 30, 2019. Learn how to obtain a Google email account. Students will then learn the basics of sending, receiving, and replying to a message, as well as how to send and open attachments and manage their new Gmail account. Basic computer skills are required.

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday.
