[ARCHIVED] Monday Shooting Injures Teenage Boy

Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate a Monday evening shooting that injured a 17-year-old boy.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, March 2, Las Cruces police were dispatched to what was initially reported as a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot of the Benavidez Center, 1045 McClure Rd.

Officers arrived to find the 17-year-old victim with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his upper-right back. The boy was alert and able to speak with first responders before he was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police are still trying to determine the circumstances that led to the teenager’s injuries.
