The Las Cruces Police Department is now accepting applications for lateral transfers – commissioned law enforcement officers who are in good standing with their current agency.
Most LCPD officers started their law enforcement careers with the department by graduating from LCPD’s Academy. But LCPD does have several officers who transferred, laterally, from other law enforcement agencies. LCPD has officers who laterally transferred from New Mexico State Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, Roswell Police, Hobbs Police, Sunland Park Police, Silver City Police as well as several from police departments outside New Mexico.
Lateral transfers help fulfil the need for qualified law enforcement officers from diverse backgrounds who have already received training and are commissioned.
LCPD salaries for lateral transfers range from $22.94 to $26.30 per hour, depending on experience. New hires are also eligible to receive a $3,000 recruitment and retention incentive with a 36-month commitment.
Prospective candidates can apply as a Lateral Transfer by visiting www.CLCPD.com and clicking the “Recruitment” tab. A link to the application page is highlighted.
The Las Cruces Police Department encourages early submission of applications.
