All events scheduled through at least April 9, 2020 at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Ave., have been canceled to prevent any potential spread of COVID-19.
Those efforts follow guidance from the New Mexico Department of Health, and Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. On March 12, 2020, New Mexico Health Secretary Kathy Kunkel issued an order temporarily prohibiting mass gatherings in the state in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public health order defines mass gatherings as events that bring together 100 or more people in a single room or connected space, such as auditoriums, stadiums, arenas, theaters and conference centers.
Already, large public events have been canceled or postponed across the state in attempts to curb any spread of COVID-19. Kunkel’s order is set to expire in 28 days, which is April 9, but could be renewed.
Anyone who was going to attend Convention Center events that have been canceled should contact the organizer of each event for information about refunds.
