[ARCHIVED] Thomas Branigan Memorial Library Suspending Programs, Will Remain Open

Branigan library building

In alignment with the Health Department’s order to limit gatherings of more 100 persons, the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library will be suspending its public programs effective March 16. Branigan Library will remain open and operational providing standard services; however, all public programs have been suspended until April 9., per the Public Health Order.

The public will be notified if additional changes or adjustments to the Library’s normal operating hours are made as this is a developing situation. In addition, beginning Monday, March 16, Munson Center Branch and Sage Café Branch will be closed to the public until the Munson and Sage senior centers are re-opened.

The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is committed to ensuring the health and safety of its employees and patrons. The Library is currently following the New Mexico Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control guidelines for sanitation and hygiene in the facility, such as wiping down surfaces with disinfectant wipes, washing hands, and employees and volunteers have been asked to stay home if they are ill. And we ask the public to also follow the sanitation and hygiene guidelines and to not come into the library if you are ill or suspect you may have been in an affected location as identified on the NM Department of Health website http://cv.nmhealth.org/travel-recommendations/.

Patrons who are elderly or vulnerable to COVID-19 should carefully weigh whether to visit any public space, including the Library. The Library does offer books by mail for the elderly and home-bound and will extend this program to anyone who is not able to visit the library. The Library will also be suspending all overdue fines for the next month and will allow unlimited renewals. If patrons need to renew items, call the Circulation Department at 575-528-4010.

And finally, the Library has many digital resources, such as e-books, e-audiobooks, streaming music, digital magazines, databases and more, which patrons can visit from the comfort of their own home. Visit the Library’s website at library.las-cruces.org to find out more and download our digital apps.

Save gas and avoid traffic! RoadRUNNER Transit can get you to the library. Branigan Library is located on Route #1, stop #2, City Hall/Library.

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday.
