Consistent with and in support of the direction from Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who issued a public health emergency in New Mexico, the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department is taking precautionary measures to ensure every person’s well-being based on the Governor’s recommendation that large public gatherings be avoided.
Operational changes will begin Monday, March 16th until further notice.
- Practice, League Play, and tournaments on all City facilities (athletic fields) will be suspended until further notice.
- All youth and adult programming will be suspended until further notice.
- All fitness classes will be suspended until further notice.
- Juvenile Citation Program (JCP) will continue to operate business as usual.
- Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) Program will continue to operate business as usual.
- Administration offices will continue to operate business as usual and staff is available to answer questions and direct patrons in the right direction.
Facility Changes:
- Both the East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Dr. and Frank O’Brien Papen Center, 304 Bell Ave. will be closed.
- The Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave. will be open Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Ages 13 – 17yrs. (limited to 50 participants.) Must have ID for proof of age.
- The Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave. will operate normal business hours. Adults only weight room, walking channel, and lap swim limited to 50 participants. There will be no open swim.
- Frenger Swimming Pool, 800 Parkview Dr. will operate normal business hours. Adults only lap swimming. Limited to 50 participants
