Residents along Madero Avenue from 2nd Street to 3rd Street, 3rd Street from Brownlee Avenue to Madero Avenue, and Van Patten Avenue from 3rd Street to 4th Street will experience a water outage, beginning 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30. Smith and Aguirre Construction Company, Inc. will completes tie-ins for new water main. The work could last until 1 a.m.
Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, city officials recommend waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the city at 526-0500 for assistance.
