During a virtual city council meeting on March 30, 2020, health professionals with Memorial Medical Center (MMC) stressed the importance of taking the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
1. Wash hands often with soap and water.
2. Don’t touch your face with your hands.
3. Stay home if you can.
4. Practice social distancing. Stay at least six-feet from the nearest person.
5. Avoid large groups - only congregate in groups of 5 or less.
6. Shopping. Only one person should go, not the entire family.
7. Pickup Service. Order ahead of time at stores and restaurants and use pickup service.
8. Wipe down surfaces with disinfectant.
MMC also reiterated that COVID-19 is not airborne. It is spread by droplets. MMC recommends that instead of wearing masks, the public should practice 1-8 above.
