Residents attending this year’s Earth Day Festival on April 20, 2019 pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by more than 180 tons this year as they selected magnets to remind them of free and low-cost solutions to help the planet.
The interactive exhibit was created by local artists, Daniel Aguilera and Saba, and supported by the City of Las Cruces’ Sustainability Office. Organizers will continue to house this exhibit in various public venues throughout the year.
The festival included more than 50 educational booths, special citizen science activities for kids and families, music, a march, a Recycle Fashion Show and more than 6,000 attendees.
The City of Las Cruces Sustainability Office and Museums, Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce, Keep Doña Ana Beautiful, New Mexico State University students, and March for Science all helped coordinate this special event.
Thanks to everyone for making it a great day!
