Even in this uncertain time, Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) wants customers to know that they can count on safe natural gas, clean drinking water, dependable wastewater, and reliable solid waste disposal in Las Cruces.
LCU offers this assurance: There will be no shutoffs of any utilities during the current Coronavirus crisis. “The suspension of service shutoffs will be in effect until the restrictions to contain COVID-19 are lifted and normal business resumes,” said Jose F. Provencio, LCU deputy director for Business Services.
Many LCU customers are used to paying their utility bill in person at Customer Central in City Hall and at the East Mesa Service Center. Both locations are closed to the public for now, but there are many other options to pay bills:
● By phone 24-hours a day in English or Spanish: Call the toll-free number at 866-426-9757. There is no service fee when paying by debit or credit card.
● Online Payments: On our City Utilities Website (www.las-cruces.org), click on “Pay Utility Bill Online” located at the bottom of the main page under “Quick Links” also free of charge.
● Drop off your payment in the Drop Box outside City Hall. It’s located between the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and City Hall in the parking lot for car or walk-up drop-off.
● Mail in your payment:

Lastly, if customers or businesses have been affected by the crisis, there are several ways to work with utility payments, but customers must reach out for help at 575-541-2111 to find the best option, based on their exact situation. There is even a “Promise to Pay.”
“The ‘Promise to Pay’ is for customers who know that they will be receiving income, perhaps through unemployment payments, or even if they are currently in the
application process,” said Provencio. “Please call Customer Central and we’ll be able to discuss options together.”
