Due to high demand the FREE Food Boxes that Senior Programs has been distributing are almost gone, but there are some left, and they will be distributed TODAY Thursday, May 14, from 2-5 p.m. at Munson Senior Center, 975 S. Mesquite St.
On May 13, about 700 free food boxes were handed out at all the Senior Centers in a drive-thru setting. The boxes are available to anyone in the community over the age of 60, and people with disabilities 18 year of age or older and are provided through the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department.
“We know the need is there, and we are working with the State to get more food and have more distribution events,” said Sonia Saldaña, Senior Services Programs Administrator.
A short form must be completed on site prior to pick-up. Senior Programs reminds the community there is no need to present any documentation to pick-up a food box, but having some sort of identification helps employees to expedite the process.
