This summer, the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program has been reimagined. We want you to Imagine Your Story with the Library. Stories are powerful! They can take you to places you’ve never been, let you experience moments in history, or they can transport you to fantastic worlds full of unbelievable things! This year, the Library is pleased to offer two ways to participate, online via our new summer reading program, Wandoo Reader, or with the traditional paper reading logs.
Participants will be able to register online, set goals, record reading progress, and even participate in challenges! Challenges will change week-to-week and will be available to participants of all ages. This year, the Library will have three age categories in which participants can register: Children (ages Birth-10), Teen (ages 11-18) and Adult (ages 19+). Community reading goals for each age group have been established so that Las Cruces can come together to reach those goals and use the hashtag #lascrucesreads.
Families can sign up outside the Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 - 5. If you register online, be sure to stop by the Library to pick up your registration packet!
Follow the Library’s Facebook page (@BraniganLibrary) for weekly virtual craft programs and information.
Additionally, the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and the Las Cruces Museum System will be partnering with FYI (Family Youth Incorporated) at several lunch sites around the city to register families, record reading progress, and provide craft and cultural program packets (while supplies last). The Library and Museums will be at the following sites from June 1 - July 31:
Monday: Library at Albert Johnson Park 10 a.m. to noon
Tuesday: Museums at Meerscheidt Rec Center 10 a.m. to noon
Wednesday: Library at Las Cruces High School 10 a.m. to noon
Thursday: Museums at Metro Verde Splash Pad 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
